DUI FACTS
Alcohol-related fatalities are caused
primarily by the consumption of beer (80%) followed by liquor/wine
(20%) (Runge, 2002)
According to stats in a Gilroy Dispatch
story, the California Highway Patrol reported 481 California
DUI arrests, 242 alcohol-involved collisions and seven DUI deaths
on Super Bowl Sunday 2006.
A standard drink is defined as 12 oz.
of beer, 5 oz of wine, or 1.9 oz. of distilled spirits, all
of which contain the same amount of alcohol -- about .54 ounces.
